Dr. Ngonzi Truth Crushshon is a licensed-eligible psychologist with 15+ years of experience in the mental health field, specializing in healing for psychological trauma. She utilizes Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and storytelling to help individuals “work through” and to process their trauma stories as they begin to view themselves as resilient survivors. Dr. Truth’s purpose and mission is to BREAK GENERATIONAL CYCLES that state if you were born with certain risk factors you must live a certain lifestyle. Dr. Truth seeks to utilize empowerment to assist individuals, families, and communities in reclaiming their power and purpose in life.

Dr. Truth’s doctorate is in Clinical Psychology indicating that she has interfaced and assisted clients/patients with tackling some of

the most severe mental health concerns and life challenges. She has cared for people within fostercare, youth in DCFS care

facilities, juvenile detention centers, jails, mental health courts, residential group homes, nursing homes, long-term care facilities, homeless shelters, and those experiencing dual diagnoses:

mental health & substance abuse as well as those experiencing mental health & medical concerns within psychiatric emergency rooms, private practices, community mental health clinics, early/headstart programs, and alternative schools.

Dr. Truth & Associates, LLC, located in Decatur, GA (Atlanta-area), provides outpatient treatment for individuals, couples, groups and families. Dr. Truth addresses primary concerns of Schizophrenia, Psychosis, Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar, ADHD, Grief/Loss,   

PTSD (physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect, multiple traumas), Autism/Developmental Delay/Intellectual Disability, 

Relationship Conflict, Career/Life Transitions,

and other mental health concerns.

Dr. Truth provides psychological testing for children and adults including, but not limited to, IQ testing, cognitive/behavioral testing, and ADHD testing.

CLINICAL EXPERIENCE

CURRENTLY

Dr. Truth provides crisis assessments for individuals experiencing

mental health emergencies via 24/7 suicide prevention crisis hotline.

Dr. Truth has previously provided on-call crisis assessments in person (S.A.S.S./Psychiatric Emergency Rooms) and via phone (the Suicide Hotline) for patients/clients experiencing suicidal or homicidal ideations/behaviors at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and

Ada S. McKinley Behavioral Health Services. 

2019-2020

Dr. Truth has conducted mental health assessments and has written comprehensive behavioral health/biopsychosocial reports for

Family Ties, Inc., an Atlanta-based mental health agency contracted with the Georgia Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS).

2017

Dr. Truth provided mental health therapy, play therapy, and psychological assessment services as a member of the 

private practice team at HOPE HAVEN PSYCHOLOGICAL RESOURCE, LLC in Indianapolis, Indiana.

2005-2020

Dr. Truth has 15 years experience as a mental health therapist

providing wrap-around services within community mental health

clinics in collaboration with the IL Department of Human Services (IDHS), Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS),

Cook County Juvenile Temporary Detention Center (CCJTDC),

Chicago Job Corps, Illinicare health insurance agency and

various organizations/community agencies.

criminal record expungement/entrepreneurship for ex-offenders, and

youth mentoring programming for residents to live their best lives and to become the very best version of themselves to enhance their families and communities.
